Guwahati,Rongili Barta-  During the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly during lock downs across the world and similarly across our country it was realized that migrant workers faced significant challenges, as many had moved to other states in search of livelihood opportunities. This population often remained nameless and largely faceless and hence untracked to the host states for various reasons. In an effort to recognize and integrate the diverse migrant populations, the GoI, Ministry of Home Affairs had directed the Raj Bhavans of all states and Raj Niwas in Union Territories (UTs) to reach out to the migrant people through commemoration of foundation day of various states and UTs, thereby   keeping track of those living in states other than their own and showcasing the rich and vibrant culture of the native states and UTs. Moreover, as a part of the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme which aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states and UTs, Raj Bhavans  and Raj Niwas across the nation are celebrating the foundation days of different states and UTs. This celebration aims to present a platform to the migrant communities of other states to celebrate the country’s inherent strength which is Unity in Diversity through Networks of Local Integrations. This platform also offers an opportunity to the often small or microscopic migrant population to present their views and culture,  register their contribution to the host State,  mutually learn and appreciate each others’ successes, address challenges, explore opportunities,  reinforce and further the bonds. Accordingly, Raj Bhavan, Assam celebrated foundation days of all the states and  UTs of the country last year. In the second year of this celebration also, it has already celebrated the foundation days of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Sikkim and Telangana. On 20th June, Raj Bhavan, Assam will celebrate the foundation day of West Bengal. Similarly, the other Raj Bhavans also celebrate foundation day of Assam in their respective states.  This is done to promote a sustained and institutionalised bond, a cultural connect in language, music, tourism and cuisine, sports and many more among the states across the nation. Over a period of time this coming togetherness will deepen the bonds of unity amongst the countrymen.
