Lok Bhavan Assam celebrates West Bengal statehood day
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: As part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, Lok Bhavan Assam celebrated West Bengal Statehood Day, commemorating the formation of the state on June 20, 1947, and showcasing the spirit of India’s socio-cultural unity. The programme was held under the leadership of Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who attended the celebration at the Kanaklal Barua Auditorium, Assam State Museum, and extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of West Bengal.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya highlighted West Bengal’s rich cultural heritage and its immense contributions to India’s history, literature, education, science, spirituality and the freedom movement. He said that the state has played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s consciousness and continues to contribute significantly to its socio, cultural, academic, intellectual and economic progress.

The Governor said that West Bengal has been the cradle of the Indian Renaissance and the birthplace of great personalities such as Swami Vivekananda, Maharshi Aurobindo, Raja Rammohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to name a few, whose contributions have enriched the nation. He also underscored the deep historical, cultural and economic ties between Assam and West Bengal.

Expressing confidence in West Bengal’s continued role in the journey towards a Viksit Bharat, the Governor urged upon the youth to imbibe the values of knowledge, discipline, innovation, service and patriotism. He wished the people of West Bengal happiness, prosperity, good health and continued progress.

On the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya also paid floral tributes to Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha on Rabha Divas and recalled his enduring contributions to Assam’s cultural renaissance and national unity.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor Shri S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram; Director General of Civil Defence, Commandant General of Home Guards, Special Director General of CID and Chairman of Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd. Munna Prasad Gupta; Chief Editor of Dainik Jugasankha Bikash Sarkar, along with a host of other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
