Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Organized by Red Cross Society, Dibrugarh

Hashim Ali,Dibrugarh, Rongili Barta: The Dibrugarh District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society organized a voluntary blood donation camp today (17-05-2026) at Mahadebpur in Namsai district (A.P). This border area of Arunachal Pradesh is located about 115 kilometers from Dibrugarh town.The initiative was taken after a leading non- governmental organization of Mahadebpur, ALAYA (All Lekang Area Youth Association), requested the Red Cross Society’s Dibrugarh branch to organize a voluntary blood donation camp and awareness meeting in the region. Notably, the camp was organized with the cooperation of ALAYA and Marwari Arogya Hospital. The main objective of the camp was to create awareness, especially among the younger generation, about the importance of voluntary blood donation and its vital role in saving human lives. At the beginning of the program, ALAYA’s Cultural Secretary, Dibakar Neog, welcomed all the guests and distinguished attendees. Among those present were Mahadebpur Police Station Officer- in- Charge Tabin Padung, ALAYA President Denny Moran, Secretary Rupam Sonowal, and representatives of the Red Cross Society including President Dr. Pankaj Kumar Shrutikar, Secretary Anuj Kumar Barua, P. K. Dev Goswami, Assistant Secretary Samir Kumar Sharma, and Birinchi Gogoi. This was followed by a felicitation and awareness meeting. Addressing the gathering, ALAYA President Denny Moran said that this blood donation initiative would further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and harmony between the two neighboring states in the future.Speaking on the importance of voluntary blood donation, Red Cross Society President Dr. Pankaj Kumar Shrutikar expressed satisfaction at receiving the request from ALAYA, noting that this was the first time such a camp had been organized outside the state. He also expressed hope that the program would inspire many people in the region to participate in such humanitarian and noble activities in the coming days.A total of 27 volunteers registered for blood donation, out of which blood was successfully collected from 16 donors.Certificates were presented to the blood donors.
