Guwahati is having a big problem with garbage. Everyday, the city makes many tonnes of waste, but a lot of it is not managed properly. In most of the places of Guwahati, wastes is found in the drains, which blocks the water and causes floods during rainy days.

Areas like Fancy Bazar, Beltola, Bhangagarh and many more have wastes lying on the roadsides. This waste includes plastic, food wastes and even medical items. People also spit on the roads, which makes the city dirty.

Garbage is also seen in Deepor Beel, a protected bird sanctuary. Dirty and toxic waste is going into the water and harming birds and fish that live there.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is trying to fix the problem. Garbage vehicles are sent to collect waste from roads and buildings. Dustbins are placed nearby roads, buildings and apartments to dispose of waste properly.
