World Environment Day celebrated at Raj Bhavan
Guwahati, Rongili Barta: In solidarity with global efforts to protect and preserve the environment, Raj Bhavan Assam, celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with a call to action for a greener and more sustainable future.
As part of the celebration, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, Shri S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, presented saplings to officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, symbolising a collective commitment to nurture mother earth and promote its ecological balance. The gesture was not only symbolic but also a pragmatic step toward enhancing biodiversity and environmental consciousness.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Shri Sundaram highlighted the urgent need to preserve and protect the planet. He emphasized the responsibility of every citizen to contribute actively to environmental restoration and sustainability. “Our Earth is not just a home for us, but a legacy we leave behind. It is our duty to protect and restore it for future generations,” he stated.
Following the theme of World Environment Day 2025, which is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, Shri Sundaram urged everyone to take concrete steps to reduce plastic use and adopt eco-friendly alternatives in daily life. He stressed that tackling plastic pollution is not just a policy matter but a personal and collective responsibility.
