Governor celebrates Holi with residents of State Home for Women

Guwahati, Rongili Barta: In a noble way to celebrate the ‘festival of colours’, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, celebrated Holi with the residents of the State Home for Women at Jalukbari in the city here today. The Governor celebrated the festival with them to spread joy and encourage a sense of belongingness among the women residing at the home.

Governor Shri Acharya extended his heartfelt Holi greetings to the residents, as he said that he felt himself fortunate to be able to celebrate the Holi with them and shared special feelings with them. He said, “I extend my warm wishes for all good time and well-being of all the sisters living in the home”.

While interacting with them the Governor encouraged the residents to focus on the positive aspects of life, stay engaged in constructive activities, and to remain hopeful for the future. He lauded their skills and creativity, particularly in producing different articles made from water hyacinth plants. Governor Shri Acharya also presented Holi gifts to all them.

During his visit, Director of the Women and Child Development Department Gauri Shankar Sharma, Deputy Secretary of the Social Welfare Department Prtilekha Deka, District Social Welfare Officer Santosh Kutum, and other officials from Social Welfare and State Home for Women were present there.
