Governor attends 3rd convocation of Assam Royal Global University

Guwahati, Rongili Barta- “The demand for knowledge in society as well as in economy requires the acquisition of new skill sets on a regular basis. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on providing skill based quality education to the students”, said Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria while speaking at the third convocation of Assam Royal Global University today in the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minsiter Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Governor Shri Kataria who is the visitor of the university said that that the universities should formulate curriculum based on theoretical and practical knowledge. He said that along with concept, attention should be made to inculcate the skills of entrepreneurship among the students to help them to contribute to the development of the state. They are to be prepared  as job givers and not job seekers.  The Governor also quoted lines of Vivekananda who once said, “Education is not just about acquiring knowledge, it is also about building character and assimilating ideas that can change life and the lives of those around us”. He called upon the students of the university   to  keep this in mind and begin the next phase of their lives. Shri Kataria also said that in the Amrit Kaal of the country, the students should devote themselves to contribute to the progress of the nation and make the country self-reliant. “Today we are into Amrit Kaal of the country and in this Amrti Yatra, the students should take a pledge to work dedicatedly for the progress of the country and make the country a Biswa Guru by 2047. Hailing Royal Global University, the Governor said that the  university has organized many programs under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and inspired the students to imbibe the spirit of self-reliance. Shri Kataria also lauded the university for its role in providing higher education as well as setting academic standards in all fields of study. In a region of immense cultural and linguistic diversity, Royal Global University has made a significant contribution to the promotion of rich knowledge as well as skills of the North East. He said that the university should formulate a roadmap for the preservation and conservation of the region’s resources. The Governor congratulated the students and advised them to continue the path of knowledge and contribute selflessly to the progress of the nation as a whole.  He also urged upon them to extend a helping hand to others who are less privileged. Education Minister Dr.Ranoj Pegu, Chancellor, Assam Royal Global University Dr. A K Pansari, Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. P. Singh, Members of the Governing Body, Board of Management and the Academic Council of the University, faculty members, students and other dignitaries were present in the convocation.
