Essay and poster making competition organised in Raj Bhavan

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- As a part of a series of steps to commemorate the 77th Independence Day, Raj Bhavan, Assam today organized an essay writing and poster making competition on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in its campus. It is to be mentioned that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of the country’s people, culture and achievements. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said that the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is dedicated to all the students and youth of the nation who are instrumental in making India a super power. He said that since students are the force behind the country’s rise to global recognition, a good idea about the nation’s history and heritage is must for the students to know. Hailing the students, the Governor said that their participation on the eve of the Nation’s independence showed their love for the nation. Their participation also helped them to comprehend their positives and negatives and take victory and loss sportingly. Kataria expressed happiness to see the children expressing their imagination of India’s independence through their art and essay and said , “You should be ready to face all kinds of challenges and hurdles which come in your way. Participation in competitions increases the confidence level and helps you to know yourself in a better way.” The Governor congratulated the participants and asked them to dream big and focus on their goal. He also thanked the school authorities and members of Artists’ Guild for their role in motivating the children in pursuing their creative dreams. He asked the students to inculcate the extreme urge to pursue their dreams and once their dreams are accomplished they should move towards serving their mother land. It may be mentioned that the poster making competition was organised in association with Gauhati Artists’ Guild. The competition saw the participation of 102 students from Class 8 to Class 12, 50 for the essay completion while 52 students for poster making competition. The first, second and third prize winners from both the groups were awarded with a trophy and a certificate. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, members of Gauhati Artists’ Guild, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan along with the students were present in the function.
