Assam Governor greets people on the eve of Kati Bihu
Guwahati,Rongili Barta- Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi wished the people of Assam on the occasion of Kati Bihu. In a message to the people Prof. Mukhi said, “Observance of Kati Bihu by people belonging to all sections of our society brings a common objective of agricultural prosperity. Celebrations of this Bihu hold immense importance in our state as people cutting across all the caste, creed and community pray to the Almighty to protect their crops. People light clay lamps outside their homes and the holy basil plant is decked with garlands and lights.” “Let us all pray, worship and welcome Goddess Lakshmi by lighting the earthen lamps in the paddy fields and in front of the holy basil plant. Let the ritual of giving earthen lamps on the fields destroy all the shortcomings associated with agriculture and lead to agricultural growth in the State”, the Governor added.
