Governor stresses on sustained and coordinated approach to eliminate TB
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, today chaired a meeting at Raj Bhavan with senior officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department and NHM to assess the State’s progress under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
As part of the ongoing national effort for a TB Mukt Bharat, the Governor was apprised of the initiatives undertaken undertaken for complete elimination of TB by Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department P. Ashok Babu and Mission Director NHM Assam, Dr. Lakshmanan S.
During the meeting, the officers presented a comprehensive report on the State’s action plan and implementation mechanisms aimed at eliminating tuberculosis. They highlighted Assam’s targeted approach, which combines strategic policy interventions, community outreach, and the active participation of Nikshay Mitras.
The Governor emphasized the need to further intensify these measures in a mission-mode. He underlined that tuberculosis must be eliminated through sustained, coordinated efforts and urged all departments to operate in a war footing to ensure that the benefits of the programme reach every household.
Governor Shri Acharya also expressed the need that Assam must aim to lead the nation in achieving TB-free status, and reaffirmed the State’s commitment to fulfilling the vision of TB Mukt Bharat.
