Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates foundation day of Gujarat and Maharashtra
Guwahati,Rongili Barta: Raj Bhavan, Assam, under the leadership of Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, celebrated the foundation day of Gujarat and Maharashtra at a solemn function held at the Sri Sri Madhavadev International Auditorium here.
Addressing the assembly on the occasion as Chief Guest, Governor Shri Acharya paid rich tributes to the stalwarts who contributed immensely to the realisation of statehood of the respective states. He at the same time appreciated the rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, and modern-day achievements of both the states.
He lauded Gujarat as the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, highlighting its entrepreneurial drive, maritime trade, and role in nation-building. Maharashtra, he said, continues to inspire with its valorous history, cultural richness, and economic significance, and home to luminaries like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The Governor emphasized that though Assam is geographically far from Gujarat and Maharashtra, the emotional and cultural bonds unite all states under the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He noted that national celebrations such as the celebrations of statehood days deepen inter-state unity and fosters a shared commitment to India’s progress.
He further underlined the pivotal role of Gujarat and Maharashtra in driving national campaigns such as Make in India and Startup India, and reaffirmed Assam’s own strides under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Governor Shri Acharya also said that such occasions would continue to reinforce national unity and inspire collective efforts toward a prosperous and developed India.
The celebration of the day featured the cultural performances showcasing the varied cultural aspects of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
