Inaugural Night of 15th Annual Brajanath Sharma Memorial Inter-State Drama Festival

Rongili Barta- YESTERDAY, Samahar Natya Gosthee’s 15th Annual Brajanath Sharma Memorial Inter-State Drama Festival was inaugurated by  veteran Leftist politician, intellectual and writer Mr Hemen Das. The souvenir of the festival ‘Kohinoor’ was released by eminent writer and former President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Mr Toren Boro.

The Festival is being held from  12th to 15th September 2024, at District Library Auditorium in the city.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by  the play of the first night. Drasta from Guwahati presented PIL-99”, written by eminent playwright Dr Sitanath Lahkar. The play, directed by Mr Indrajit Kakati, mainly highlightsed rampant corruption, even in the name of drinking water, and poignantly presented how the verdict of the people’s legal battle is stalled by the powers that be.

TODAY’S PLAY (13th September) –  6:45 pm – (Manabendra Bhattacharyya Evening) –  Samahar Natya Gosthee will stage “DROHI”written and directed by renowned playwright and theatre personality Dr Sitanath Lahkar. The drama is based on COVID-19 pandemic period. The play exposes how a section of the society tries to capitalize on the human catastrophe by means of superstitions.

TOMORROW’S PLAY (14th September) –  6:45 pm – (Deep Kumar Medhi Evening) – Jagiroad Natyagosthi will perform “IMAAN DHUNIYA PRITHIBIKHON”. The play, written and directed by well-known theatre personality Mr Tarun Talukdar, revolves around two youths addicted to drugs. It shows the dangerous impact of such a menace on our society, and the possible way forward to get rid of it
