Governor felicitates boxer Lovlina Borgohain

Guwahati, August 12: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi along with the First lady of Assam Prem Mukhi felicitated ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain in recognition of her stupendous feat on winning bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 of at a function  held in Raj Bhavan today.

          Taking a note on the promising journey of Lovlina Borgohain  and acknowledging her grit and determination which have earned her bronze medal in the Olympics, Prof. Mukhi congratulated Lovlina Borgohain and wished her all the luck for all her future endeavours.  He also said, “We are really proud of you. Rising from humble beginnings from a small village called Barmokhia in Golaghat district, your triumph at the biggest sporting event of the globe, not only made a name for yourself and most importantly it also made Assam proud. Your success will be a source of strength and inspiration to hordes of youngsters across the country and outside.”  The Governor felicitated her with a gamocha, seleng sador, sarai and a sum of Rs. 5 lakh.

He also asked the Commissioner and  Secretary, Sports and Youth welfare Malay Bora who was present at the event to find ways to use this Olympic success of her to ignite the hidden sporting potentials of Assam. He also asked him to help Lovlina in all possible ways to sustain her winning streak.
