Governor attends the re-launching of Dainik Janambhumi

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- “Newspapers are the mouthpiece of the masses; they play the role of custodians of the truth and human rights of the people,” said Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at the re-launching programme of Dainik Janambhumi an Assamese daily newspaper in a city hotel here today. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that there are many challenges before the media today. Though it is getting difficult to strike a balance between the cost and revenue, media is working in the society to highlight several issues and bring them to limelight. He said that today though digital media has gained popularity, print media has a unique place. He said that millions of readers still read the daily news papers with editorials and articles. Therefore, it may be attributed that print media has the power to interfere in the policy making of the country. The Governor also said that though the young generation is somehow losing interest in print media and getting attracted to digital media, it the responsibility of the parents and teachers to develop interests of their wards in print media. The people associated with the print media should also take the responsibility to make it interesting for the young generation. Extending wishes to the Prag family, the Governor said that the  re-launch of the news daily would surely provide fresh depth to Assamese journalism and media industry. The Governor congratulated the patron of Prag News Dr. Sanjeev Narain on this occasion. Minister of Information and Public Relations Pijush Hazarka, Minister of Industries and Commerce Bimal Borah, Advisor Education Govt.of Assam Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, CMD of Prag Dr.Sanjive Narain and  a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
