Governor attends North East Folk Festival 2023

Appreciates the rich culture of North East

Guwahati,Rongili Barta- With a view to promote the folk culture and rich heritage of North East India, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the North East Folk Fest 2023  at Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts at Machkhowa in Guwahati, Organized by Byatikram MASDO the fest provided a captivating glimpse into the rich and diverse cultural heritage of North East India, showcasing the unique ways of life and the rich tapestry of art, music, and dance. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Kataria said that Northeast is a very rich region of the country and has always been in the forefront for its rich culture and historical heritage along with natural resources, bio-diversity, rare wildlife and flora. Appreciating the rich cultural heritage of the North East, Kataria said, “As we move forward in our pursuit of progress, let us not forget to cherish and honor the age-old traditions that have stood the test of time and have been passed down from generation to generation. May we continue to embrace these rich cultural treasures and allow them to shine on in the years to come”. The Governor also said that the main objective of the Northeast Folk Festival should be to introduce the rest of the countrymen to the folk-life, folk-art and folk-culture of the North-East. It should also be an attempt to strengthen the thread of national unity. The fest was attended by Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Ruhul Amin, Director of NERIM Group Prof. Sangeeta Tripathi along with a host of other dignitaries.
