Assam Governor on Raksha Bandhan

Guwahati,Rongili Barta-  On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, sisters of Prajapita Bramakumari, Children from SOS village, members from Lions Club of Guwahati, Marwari Sanmelan Mahila Shakha, Kalyan Ashram, Guwahati Marwari Mahila Ekta Manch and  Mahila Samity Friends of Tribal Society  had come to tie rakhi to the Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan. Prof. Mukhi said that Raksha Bandhan holds importance in our age old tradition and history. It is a bond of protection which serves as a symbol of love, togetherness and confidence in each other. The Governor said, “The age-old tradition of tying thread on the wrist signifies a special bond between brothers and sisters. It showcases the unwavering affection and trust between brothers and sisters. I am deeply touched by the gestures of sisters from various organizations in Assam coming down to Raj Bhavan to tie a sacred Rakhi on my wrist.” He hoped that the pious occasion of Raksha Bandhan would strengthen the feeling of brotherhood and augur a sense of responsibility towards brother-sister relations.
